Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro, known for his impressive speed, recently revealed in an interview that there is a player in the squad who is even faster than him.

Spurs boast some of the Premier League’s quickest players, including Son Heung-min, Cristian Romero, and Porro himself, who has clocked a top speed of 33.10 km/h.

The Spanish right-back, speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel alongside teammate Cristian Romero, admitted that Micky van de Ven is faster than him.

When asked directly who the fastest player was, Porro replied without hesitation:

“No, I think Micky. I’d say Micky, yeah.”

Van de Ven has not only established himself as the quickest player in the Tottenham squad but also recently earned the distinction of being the fastest footballer in the world.

According to The Speeds Database, the Dutch defender reached an astonishing speed of 37.38 km/h in a match against Brentford in February, making him the fastest player globally.

Van de Ven’s exceptional speed and athleticism is a crucial asset for Tottenham, allowing them to maintain a high defensive line under manager Ange Postecoglou without being vulnerable to fast attackers.

His rapid acceleration and quick recovery pace have been pivotal to Spurs’ defensive strategy.

Since his arrival from German club Wolfsburg last summer for a substantial transfer fee of €40 million, the 23-year-old centre-back has made a significant impact at Tottenham. Van de Ven’s performances have justified the investment and showcased his potential to become one of Europe’s elite defenders.

With such remarkable speed and defensive prowess, Micky van de Ven is poised to become a key player for Tottenham.
